Gateway Drug

Some people claim that trying cannibis increases the probablility that users will eventually use harder drugs. Study has shown that tobacco smoking is a better predictor of concurrent illicit hard drug use than smoking cannibis. The main variant of the gateway hypothesis is that peaple, upon trying cannibis for the first time and not finding it dangerous, are than tempted to try other, harder drugs. Another gateway hypothesis is that while cannibis is not as harmful or addictive as other drugs, a gateway affect may be seen as a result af the common factors involved in using an illegal drug.
